Water disinfection with ozone in food production
In food production, the disinfection of product water is fundamental. To some extent, even the operating water must be purified. One of the safest and most environment-friendly procedures is the sterilisation of water with ozone, which means that chemicals need not be used.
Ozone can be produced and is a powerful oxidising agent. The germs are directly destroyed during the oxidising process. If you panic right now because you expect ozone in your food: keep calm! One part of the ozone is transformed into oxygen during the process (O3 becomes O2). Additionally, the excess ozone is removed from the water in a residual ozone decomposer.
Technical requirements for this procedure
As already explained, ozone is a highly corrosive agent. All elastomers in the valve and the valve body must be resistant to this attack in the long term. Even though ozone is very useful in this application, it is harmful for human health and the environment, if it ends up in the inhaled air. Consequently the water treatment systems using ozone must be closed. Therefore, a bleeding valve must be absolutely tight and route the ozoniferous gases only to places where they should be.
Since excess ozoniferous process gases are treated in a residual ozone decomposer, the impact on the environment is reduced.

The bleeding valve ensures the safe discharge of excess ozoniferous process gases to the residual ozone decomposer. With its FKM sealing material and the body completely made of CrNiMo stainless steel, this industrial valve withstands the ozoniferous gases.
The valve is made of few components which ensures very low wear. Thus the service technicians must rarely intervene into the ozone-laden system.
